PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 321.34, subsection 4, Code Supplement 1 2 1995, is amended to read as follows: 1 3 4. MULTIYEAR PLATES. In lieu of issuing annual 1 4 registration plates for trailers,andsemitrailers, motor 1 5 trucks, and truck tractors, the department may issue a 1 6 multiyear registration plate for a three-year period or a 1 7 permanent registration plate for trailers and semitrailers 1 8 licensed under chapter 326, and a permanent registration plate 1 9 for motor trucks and truck tractors licensed under chapter 1 10 326, upon payment of the appropriate registration fee. 1 11 Payment of feesto the departmentfor trailers and 1 12 semitrailers for a permanent registration plate shall, at the 1 13 option of the registrant, be made at five-year intervals or on 1 14 an annual basis. Fees from three-year and five-year payments 1 15 shall not be reduced or prorated. Payment of fees for motor 1 16 trucks and truck tractors shall be made on an annual basis. 1 17 EXPLANATION 1 18 This bill provides for the issuance of a permanent 1 19 registration plate for motor trucks and truck tractors 1 20 licensed pursuant to chapter 326 in lieu of issuing an annual 1 21 registration plate upon payment of the appropriate annual 1 22 registration fee. 1 23 LSB 3424HV 76 1 24 ec/jj/8
