  1  1    Section 1.  Section 456A.22, Code 1995, is amended to read
  1  2 as follows:
  1  3    456A.22  POLITICAL ACTIVITY.
  1  4    No member, An officer, or employee of the commission shall
  1  5 not, directly or indirectly, exert influence to induce any
  1  6 other officers or employees of the state to adopt the
  1  7 member's, officer's or employee's political views, or to favor
  1  8 any particular candidate for office, nor shall such member,
  1  9 the officer, or employee contribute in any manner, directly or
  1 10 indirectly, any money or other things of value to any person,
  1 11 organization, or committee for political campaign or election
  1 12 purposes.  Any person violating this section shall be removed
  1 13 from the person's office or position.  This section does not
  1 14 apply to members of the commission.  
  1 15                           EXPLANATION
  1 16    This bill removes the restrictions regarding participation
  1 17 in political activities by members of the natural resource
  1 18 commission.  Restrictions on political activities remain for
  1 19 administrators, conservation officers, and other employees
  1 20 working under the natural resource commission.
