1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 272.12 RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS &endash;
1 2 FUNDING.
1 3 A teacher employed on a full-time basis by a school dis-
1 4 trict or area education agency may file a request with the
1 5 board for reimbursement for eighty percent of the costs of
1 6 courses of study successfully completed by the teacher and
1 7 required to comply with renewal requirements contained in
1 8 rules adopted by the board. The board shall determine a
1 9 procedure for payment of the costs under this section.
1 10 There is appropriated from the general fund of the state to
1 11 the board of educational examiners for each fiscal year an
1 12 amount sufficient to pay the reimbursement costs to teachers
1 13 under this section.
1 14 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE AND APPLICABILITY PROVISIONS. This
1 15 Act takes effect July 1, 1995, and applies to courses of study
1 16 completed on or after that date.
1 17 EXPLANATION
1 18 This bill provides that the board of educational examiners
1 19 reimburse 80 percent of the costs of renewal requirements for
1 20 full-time teachers employed by a school district or area
1 21 education agency. The board of educational examiners is
1 22 responsible for the administration of the program.
1 23 The bill provides a state appropriation to pay the
1 24 reimbursement costs. The bill takes effect July 1, 1995, and
1 25 applies to courses of study completed on or after that date.
