1 1 Section 1. Section 476.1A, Code 1995, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 7. Purchase of alternate energy in
1 4 accordance with rates established under section 476.43.
1 5 Sec. 2. Section 476.1B, subsection 1, Code 1995, is
1 6 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
1 7 NEW PARAGRAPH. m. Purchase of alternate energy in
1 8 accordance with rates established under section 476.43.
1 9 Sec. 3. Section 476.43, subsection 1, unnumbered paragraph
1 10 1, Code 1995, is amended to read as follows:
1 11 Subject to section 476.44, the board shall require electric
1 12 utilities, including electric utilities under sections 476.1A
1 13 and 476.1B, to enter into long-term contracts to do the
1 14 following:
1 15 EXPLANATION
1 16 This bill requires electric public utilities with fewer
1 17 than 10,000 customers and electric cooperative corporations
1 18 and associations under section 476.1A, and municipally owned
1 19 utilities under section 476.1B, that are not rate-regulated
1 20 utilities to purchase alternate energy at rates established by
1 21 the utilities board pursuant to section 476.43.
1 22 This bill may contain a state mandate under chapter 25B.
1 23 If the bill contains a state mandate, it will not take effect
1 24 unless an appropriation in accordance with section 25B.2,
1 25 subsection 3, is made fully funding or specifying the
1 26 proportionate share of the costs of implementing the bill.
