1 1 Section 1. Section 483A.10, Code 1995, is amended to read
1 2 as follows:
1 3 483A.10 ISSUANCE OF LICENSES &endash; HUNTING LICENSE REQUIRED.
1 4 1. All licenses other than hunting, fishing, and fur
1 5 harvester licenses, shall be issued by the director upon
1 6 application to the departmental office at Des Moines.
1 7 Hunting, fishing, and fur harvester licenses shall be issued
1 8 by the recorder of each county. The licenses shall show the
1 9 cost of the license and issuing fee.
1 10 2. A hunting license shall not be issued to an applicant
1 11 who was born after January 1, 1967, unless the applicant shows
1 12 the seller a valid certificate of satisfactory completion of
1 13 an approved hunter safety and ethics education course as
1 14 provided in section 483A.27. The seller of the hunting
1 15 license shall transcribe the hunter safety number from the
1 16 certification of completion onto the hunting license along
1 17 with the abbreviated name of the state of origin if the
1 18 certificate of completion was not issued in this state.
1 19 EXPLANATION
1 20 This bill provides that a hunting license shall not be
1 21 issued to an applicant who was born after January 1, 1967,
1 22 unless the applicant shows the seller a valid certification of
1 23 satisfactory completion of an approved hunter safety and ethic
1 24 education course. The seller of the hunting license shall
1 25 transcribe the hunter safety number from the certificate of
1 26 completion to the hunting license along with the name of state
1 27 of origin if the certificate of completion was not issued in
1 28 this state. A violator is guilty of a simple misdemeanor with
1 29 a minimum fine of $10.
