1 1 Section 1. Section 257.11, Code 1995, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 8. SHARED CURRICULUM DIRECTORS. For the
1 4 budget years beginning July 1, 1995, and July 1, 1996, pupils
1 5 enrolled in a school district in which the curriculum director
1 6 is jointly employed with another school district are assigned
1 7 a weighting of one and one-tenth times the percent of the
1 8 curriculum director's time in which the curriculum director is
1 9 employed in the school district. However, the total
1 10 additional weighting assigned under this subsection for a
1 11 budget year for a school district shall not exceed seven and
1 12 one-half. The assignment of additional weighting to a school
1 13 district shall continue for a period of five years. If the
1 14 school district reorganizes during that five-year period, the
1 15 assignment of the additional weighting shall be transferred to
1 16 the reorganized district until the expiration of the five-year
1 17 period.
1 18 However, if the moneys generated by the weighting for all
1 19 school districts in the state will exceed two million five
1 20 hundred thousand dollars in state aid, the department of
1 21 education shall prorate the amount based upon the additional
1 22 weightings.
1 23 Sec. 2. This Act takes effect upon enactment and applies
1 24 to school budget years beginning on or after July 1, 1995.
1 25 EXPLANATION
1 26 The bill provides additional weighting of up to one-tenth
1 27 of one pupil for each pupil enrolled in a school district that
1 28 jointly employees with another district a curriculum director.
1 29 The total additional weighting for the school district shall
1 30 continue for a period of five years and may not exceed 7.5
1 31 pupils. In addition, this additional weighting shall not
1 32 result in more than $2.5 million in additional state aid. If
1 33 the weighting will do so, the state aid is to be prorated
1 34 amongst the school districts.
1 35 The bill is effective upon enactment and applies to school
2 1 budget years beginning on or after July 1, 1995.
