1 1 Section 1. Section 322.29, Code 1995, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new unnumbered paragraph after unnumbered
1 3 paragraph 4:
1 4 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. A person who rebuilds new
1 5 completed motor vehicles by fabricating, altering, adding, or
1 6 replacing essential parts, components, or equipment for the
1 7 purpose of converting a multipurpose vehicle as defined in
1 8 chapter 321 may be issued a license as a wholesaler of new
1 9 motor vehicles of the make and model rebuilt.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill allows a person who rebuilds a new completed
1 12 motor vehicle by fabricating, altering, adding, or replacing
1 13 essential parts, components, or equipment for the purpose of
1 14 converting a multipurpose vehicle to be issued a license as a
1 15 wholesaler of new motor vehicles. A multipurpose vehicle is
1 16 defined in section 321.1, subsection 44, as a motor vehicle
1 17 designed to carry not more than ten people, and constructed
1 18 either on a truck chassis or with special features for
1 19 occasional off-road operation.
1 20 A dealer licensed as a wholesaler for new motor vehicles
1 21 may operate the vehicle on the roadways with a special plate
1 22 issued to the wholesaler when operated solely for purposes of
1 23 demonstration, show, or exhibition.
