1 1 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY WARNSTADT, KLEMME, RANTS, and NUTT
1 3 A Concurrent Resolution supporting the 185th Fighter
1 4 Wing of the Air National Guard of Iowa in its
1 5 peacekeeping patrols in the United Nations "No-Fly
1 6 Zone" over Iraq.
1 7 WHEREAS, the 185th Fighter Wing of the Air National
1 8 Guard of Iowa is home-based in Sioux City, Iowa; and
1 9 WHEREAS, the 185th Fighter Wing will be responsible
1 10 for patrols in F-16 fighter aircraft over the United
1 11 Nations "No-Fly Zone" north of the 36th parallel in
1 12 Iraq; and
1 13 WHEREAS, the 185th Fighter Wing has been expressly
1 14 chosen to serve its country in promoting and
1 15 protecting human rights in Iraq; and
1 16 WHEREAS, the 185th Fighter Wing is one of Iowa's
1 17 most decorated National Guard units having served the
1 18 United States previously in similar duty in 1993 in
1 19 "Operation Provide Comfort"; NOW THEREFORE,
1 20 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE
1 21 SENATE CONCURRING, That all Iowans recognize and
1 22 appreciate the sacrifices of the Air National Guard of
1 23 Iowa men and women associated with the Iraqi mission,
1 24 honor and support them in the different peacekeeping
1 25 tasks ahead, and look forward to their safe return.
1 26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Chief Clerk of the
1 27 House of Representatives send a copy of this
1 28 Resolution to Major General Warren G. Lawson, Iowa
1 29 National Guard, and Colonel Dennis Swanstrom, 185th
1 30 Fighter Wing, who will distribute copies to the men
2 1 and women of the 185th Fighter Wing associated with
2 2 the Iraqi peacekeeping mission and to their closest
2 3 family member.
