1 4 A Concurrent Resolution designating March 1995 as Iowa

1 9 recorded and unrecorded ways; and
1 10 WHEREAS, Iowa women have played and continue to
1 11 play a critical economic, cultural, and social role in
1 12 every sphere of the nation by constituting a

1 14 and outside of the home; and
1 15 WHEREAS, Iowa women were particularly important in
1 16 the establishment of early charitable, philanthropic,
1 17 and cultural institutions in our nation; and
1 18 WHEREAS, Iowa women have been leaders in the
1 19 abolitionist movement, the emancipation movement, the

1 22 which have assisted in creating a more fair and just
1 23 society for all; and
1 24 WHEREAS, many Iowa women, including Carrie Chapman
1 25 Catt, spent their lives fighting for the right to

1 28 suffrage is celebrated; and
1 29 WHEREAS, despite these contributions, and those of
1 30 women throughout the world, the role of women has been

2 3 THEREFORE,
2 4 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE
2 5 SENATE CONCURRING, That the General Assembly
2 6 designates the month of March 1995 as Iowa Women's

2 9 by visiting the Iowa Women's Hall of Fame, established

2 11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the General Assembly
2 12 requests that the Governor issue a proclamation
