PAG LIN 1 1 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 1 2 BY CONNORS 1 3 (COMPANION TO LSB 2058SS BY RIFE) 1 4 A Concurrent Resolution honoring Ms. Sugar Macaulay upon her 1 5 retirement as the Capitol Tour Guide Supervisor. 1 6 WHEREAS, Ms. Sugar Macaulay, the Capitol Tour Guide 1 7 Supervisor, is retiring from that position after 1 8 serving for over 25 years as a Capitol Tour Guide; and 1 9 WHEREAS, Ms. Macaulay's distinguished career as a 1 10 Capitol Tour Guide has spanned four decades, with 1 11 administration of the capitol tour guide service in 1 12 both the executive and legislative branches during 1 13 that time period; and 1 14 WHEREAS, during that time period Ms. Macaulay and 1 15 the Capitol Tour Guides under her supervision have 1 16 conducted thousands of capitol building and dome tours 1 17 for hundreds of thousands of capitol visitors from 1 18 throughout the world; and 1 19 WHEREAS, the Capitol Tour Guides have greeted the 1 20 public enthusiastically in their visits to the state 1 21 capitol complex and in their introductions to state 1 22 government; and 1 23 WHEREAS, these tours of the capitol have educated 1 24 and enlightened the many visitors to the capitol for 1 25 decades; and 1 26 WHEREAS, the information imparted by the Capitol 1 27 Tour Guides has given Iowans and others throughout the 1 28 world a sense of pride in Iowa's capitol building and 1 29 the workings of the Iowa General Assembly and state 1 30 government in general; and 2 1 WHEREAS, the many tours conducted over the years 2 2 for the school children of this state have instilled 2 3 in many of Iowa's citizens a sense of history and 2 4 pride for Iowa's capitol building and for the work of 2 5 the General Assembly and of state government in 2 6 positively affecting the lives of Iowans; and 2 7 WHEREAS, Ms. Macaulay has personally been an 2 8 extremely dedicated Capitol Tour Guide over the years, 2 9 utilizing her grace, poise, and charm in shepherding 2 10 the many visitors through the capitol building; and 2 11 WHEREAS, Ms. Macaulay has demonstrated her great 2 12 patience and hospitality in dealing with the many 2 13 diverse groups of individuals who visit the capitol; 2 14 and 2 15 WHEREAS, Ms. Macaulay has served as a goodwill 2 16 ambassador for the capitol and Iowa's state 2 17 government; and 2 18 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the General Assembly 2 19 and all of state government should recognize Ms. 2 20 Macaulay's outstanding accomplishments in her 25 years 2 21 of service; NOW THEREFORE, 2 22 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE 2 23 SENATE CONCURRING, That the General Assembly of the 2 24 State of Iowa pay tribute to Ms. Sugar Macaulay for 2 25 her devoted service to the capitol tour guide service, 2 26 the Legislative Service Bureau, the Iowa General 2 27 Assembly, and the citizens of this state and, upon her 2 28 retirement, wish her the very best in the years ahead; 2 29 and 2 30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of 3 1 this Resolution be prepared and presented to Ms. Sugar 3 2 Macaulay. 3 3 LSB 2058HH 76 3 4 rj/jj/8
