  1  1    Amend House File 2472 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 29, by inserting after line 8 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec.    .  Section 692.2, subsection 1, paragraph
  1  5 j, Code Supplement 1995, is amended to read as
  1  6 follows:
  1  7    j.  A person or the person's attorney but only with
  1  8 regard to the person's own criminal history data,
  1  9 subject to the identification and fee requirements of
  1 10 section 692.2, subsection 6, and section 692.5.  A
  1 11 person may request in writing that a certified copy of
  1 12 the person's own criminal history record be sent
  1 13 directly to a potential employer.
  1 14    Sec.    .  Section 692.2, subsection 6, unnumbered
  1 15 paragraph 1, Code Supplement 1995, is amended to read
  1 16 as follows:
  1 17    The department may charge a fee to any nonlaw-
  1 18 enforcement agency to conduct criminal history record
  1 19 checks and otherwise administer this section and other
  1 20 sections of the Code providing access to criminal
  1 21 history records.  The fee shall be set by the
  1 22 commissioner of public safety equal to the cost
  1 23 incurred not to exceed twenty dollars for each
  1 24 individual check requested.  However, no fee shall be
  1 25 charged to a person requesting a copy of that person's
  1 26 own criminal history data, if that person requests
  1 27 that the copy be sent directly to a potential
  1 28 employer.  Notwithstanding any other limitation, the
  1 29 department is authorized to use revenues generated
  1 30 from the fee to employ clerical personnel to process
  1 31 criminal history checks for nonlaw-enforcement
  1 32 purposes."
