  1  1    Amend House File 579 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 10, line 28, by striking the word
  1  3 "eighty-six" and inserting the following:  "seventy".
  1  4    #2.  Page 11, by striking lines 3 and 4 and
  1  5 inserting the following:  "second session.  However,
  1  6 members from Polk county Members residing fifty or
  1  7 fewer miles from the capitol building of the state
  1  8 shall receive forty-five fifty dollars per day.
  1  9 Each".
  1 10    #3.  Page 11, line 35, by striking the word
  1 11 "eighty-six" and inserting the following:  "seventy".
  1 12    #4.  Page 12, line 17, by striking the word
  1 13 "eighty-six" and inserting the following:  "seventy".
  1 14    #5.  Page 14, by inserting after line 11 the
  1 15 following:
  1 16    "Sec.    .  Section 97B.41, subsection 20,
  1 17 paragraph a, unnumbered paragraph 1, Code 1995, is
  1 18 amended to read as follows:
  1 19    Wages for a member of the general assembly means
  1 20 the total compensation received by a member of the
  1 21 general assembly, whether paid in the form of per diem
  1 22 or annual salary, exclusive of expense and travel
  1 23 allowances paid to a member of the general assembly
  1 24 except as otherwise provided in this paragraph.  Wages
  1 25 includes per diem payments paid to members of the
  1 26 general assembly during interim periods between
  1 27 sessions of the general assembly.  Wages also includes
  1 28 daily allowances to members of the general assembly
  1 29 for nontravel expenses of office during a session of
  1 30 the general assembly, but does not include the portion
  1 31 of the daily allowance which exceeds the maximum
  1 32 established by law for members from Polk county."
