  1  1    Amend House File 507, as passed by the House, as
  1  2 follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 1, by inserting before line 1 the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "Section 1.  Section 19A.3, Code 1995, is amended
  1  6 by adding the following new subsection:
  1  7    NEW SUBSECTION.  23.  Up to six nonprofessional
  1  8 employees designated at the discretion of each
  1  9 statewide elected official."
  1 10    #3.  Page 1, line 4, by inserting after the word
  1 11 and figure "October 15" the following:  "appointed
  1 12 during a department's designated six-month seasonal
  1 13 employment period during the same annual twelve-month
  1 14 period, as approved by the director".
  1 15    #2.  Page 1, by inserting after line 4 the
  1 16 following:
  1 17    "Sec. 2.  NEW SECTION.  19A.3A  EMPLOYEES OF
  1 18 STATEWIDE ELECTED OFFICIALS.
  1 19    The exempt position classifications of employees of
  1 20 statewide elected officials as of June 30, 1994, shall
  1 21 remain exempt and any employees subsequently hired to
  1 22 fill any exempt position vacancies shall be classified
  1 23 as exempt employees."
  1 24    #4.  Page 1, line 16, by inserting after the word
  1 25 "applicable." the following:  "The director shall
  1 26 notify the chairpersons of the standing committees on
  1 27 appropriations of the senate and the house of
  1 28 representatives and the chairpersons of the
  1 29 appropriate subcommittees of those committees of the
  1 30 proposed projects.  The notice from the director shall
  1 31 include the purpose of the project, a description of
  1 32 the project and how the project will be evaluated.
  1 33 Chairpersons notified shall be given at least two
  1 34 weeks to review and comment on the proposal before the
  1 35 project is implemented."
  1 36    #5.  By renumbering, relettering, or redesignating
  1 37 and correcting internal references as necessary.
