  1 45    The board of directors of a public school and the
  1 46 authorities in control of a nonpublic school shall
  1 47 prescribe procedures for continued school involvement
  1 48 with a student who is suspended or expelled for
  1 49 possession of a dangerous weapon, as defined in
  1 50 section 702.7, on school premises in violation of
  2  1 school policy or state law and for the reintegration
  2  2 of the student into the school following the
  2  3 suspension or expulsion.
  2  4    Sec.    .  NEW SECTION.  280.21B  EXPULSION &endash;
  2  5 WEAPONS IN SCHOOL.
  2  6    The board of directors of a school district and the
  2  7 authorities in charge of a nonpublic school which
  2  8 receives services supported by federal funds shall
  2  9 expel from school for a period of not less than one
  2 10 year a student who is determined to have brought a
  2 11 weapon to a school under the jurisdiction of the board
  2 12 or the authorities.  However, the superintendent or
  2 13 chief administering officer of a school or school
  2 14 district may modify expulsion requirements on a case-
  2 15 by-case basis.  This section shall not be construed to
  2 16 prevent the board of directors of a school district or
  2 17 the authorities in charge of a nonpublic school that
  2 18 have expelled a student from the student's regular
  2 19 school setting from providing educational services to
  2 20 the student in an alternative setting.  If both this
  2 21 section and section 282.4 apply, this section takes
  2 22 precedence over section 282.4.  For purposes of this
  2 23 section, "weapon" means a firearm as defined in 18
  2 24 U.S.C. } 921.  This section shall be construed in a
  2 25 manner consistent with the federal Individuals with
  2 26 Disabilities Education Act, 20 U.S.C. } 1400 et seq."
  2 27    #16.  Page 19, line 18, by striking the word

  2 42 "issues;" the following:  "two members of the senate,
  2 43 one each appointed by the majority and minority
  2 44 leaders and two members of the house of
  2 45 representatives, appointed by the speaker of the house
  2 46 of representatives after consultation with the
  2 47 majority and minority leaders;".  
  2 48    #21.  Title page, line 5, by striking the
  2 49 words "identifying information regarding juveniles
  2 50 involved in" and inserting the following:
  3  1 "information regarding".
  3  2    #22.  Title page, lines 7 and 8, by striking the
  3  3 words "placing a juvenile in detention as a
