1 1 Amend the amendment, H-3498, to Senate File 266, as
1 2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as
1 3 follows:
1 4 #1. Page 19, by inserting after line 6 the
1 5 following:
1 6 "Sec. . Section 285.3, Code 1995, is amended by
1 7 striking the section and inserting in lieu thereof the
1 8 following:
1 9 285.3 PARENTAL REIMBURSEMENT FOR NONPUBLIC SCHOOL
1 10 STUDENT TRANSPORTATION.
1 11 1. A parent or legal guardian of a student
1 12 attending an accredited nonpublic school, who
1 13 furnishes transportation for the student pursuant to
1 14 section 285.1 and meets the requirements of subsection
1 15 2, is entitled to reimbursement equal to an amount
1 16 calculated under the provisions of section 285.1,
1 17 subsection 3. In addition, parents or legal guardians
1 18 who transport one or more family members more than
1 19 four miles to their accredited nonpublic schools of
1 20 attendance shall be entitled to one supplemental
1 21 mileage payment per family, per claim period, equal to
1 22 fifteen percent of the parental reimbursement amount,
1 23 rounded to the nearest whole dollar, when calculated
1 24 under the provisions of section 285.1, subsection 3.
1 25 2. To qualify for parental reimbursement under
1 26 subsection 1, a parent or legal guardian of a student
1 27 attending an accredited nonpublic school, who
1 28 furnishes transportation for a child pursuant to
1 29 section 285.1, shall submit a claim for reimbursement
1 30 to the resident public school district notifying the
1 31 district that the student is enrolled and attending an
1 32 accredited nonpublic school. Claims for reimbursement
1 33 shall be filed with the district by December 1 and May
1 34 1 annually and shall include the name, age, and grade
1 35 level of the student and the name of the accredited
1 36 nonpublic school and its location. The district shall
1 37 submit claims for reimbursement to the department of
1 38 education on behalf of the parent or legal guardian if
1 39 the parent or guardian meets the requirements of this
1 40 section."
