1 1 Amend the amendment, H-3498, to Senate File 266, as
1 2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate as
1 3 follows:
1 4 #1. Page 16, by inserting after line 31 the
1 5 following:
1 6 "Sec. 403. NEW SECTION. 257.50 ADDITIONAL AID
1 7 FOR AT-RISK PUPILS.
1 8 1. Beginning with the school budget year
1 9 commencing July 1, 1996, if the general assembly
1 10 appropriates moneys for additional state aid for at-
1 11 risk pupils for that budget year, and in each
1 12 succeeding year in which the general assembly
1 13 appropriates moneys for additional state aid for at-
1 14 risk pupils, school districts shall receive additional
1 15 state aid based upon the number of at-risk pupils
1 16 enrolled in a public school in the district. Each
1 17 school district shall assist the department in
1 18 identifying the number of at-risk pupils and the
1 19 number shall be reported by the department to the
1 20 department of management by October 1 of each budget
1 21 year. For purposes of identifying at-risk pupils, the
1 22 department shall use the primary and secondary risk
1 23 factors specified in 281 IAC 65, rules 4 and 5, and
1 24 other risk factors that the department, with the
1 25 approval of the department of management, shall
1 26 specify.
1 27 2. The amount of additional state aid a school
1 28 district shall receive for a budget year equals the
1 29 product of ten percent of the district cost per pupil
1 30 for that budget year multiplied by the number of at-
1 31 risk pupils identified and reported pursuant to
1 32 subsection 1.
1 33 The additional state aid shall be paid in the
1 34 manner provided in section 257.16, commencing with the
1 35 October 15 payment. Aid received by a school district
1 36 under this section shall be miscellaneous income."
1 37 #2. Page 20, by inserting after line 10 the
1 38 following:
1 39 "Sec. . Section 403 of this Act applies for
1 40 computing state aid for school budget years beginning
1 41 on or after July 1, 1996."
1 42 #3. By renumbering as necessary.
