1 4 "Sec. . Section 509A.6, Code 1995, is amended
1 5 to read as follows:
1 6 509A.6 CONTRACT WITH INSURANCE CARRIER OR HEALTH
1 7 MAINTENANCE ORGANIZATION.
1 8 The governing body may contract with a nonprofit
1 9 corporation operating under the provisions of this
1 10 chapter or chapter 514 or with any insurance company
1 11 having a certificate of authority to transact an
1 12 insurance business in this state with respect of a
1 13 group insurance plan, which may include life,
1 14 accident, health, hospitalization and disability
1 15 insurance during period of active service of such
1 16 employees, with the right of any employee to continue
1 17 such life insurance in force after termination of
1 18 active service at such employee's sole expense; may
1 19 contract with a nonprofit corporation operating under
1 20 and governed by the provisions of this chapter or
1 21 chapter 514 with respect of any hospital or medical
1 22 service plan; and may contract with a health
1 23 maintenance organization or an organized delivery
1 24 system authorized to operate in this state with
1 25 respect to health maintenance organization or
1 26 organized delivery system activities."
