  1  1    Amend House File 394 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 2, by inserting after line 30 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec.    .  The commissioner of insurance shall
  1  5 study the reasons for the unavailability of medical
  1  6 malpractice liability insurance covering all acts or
  1  7 omissions which may constitute medical malpractice
  1  8 which occur during the period of time a policy is in
  1  9 force.  The study shall include an examination of
  1 10 potential actions which could be pursued by the state
  1 11 to assure the availability of medical malpractice
  1 12 liability insurance.  The commissioner shall report
  1 13 the findings and conclusions of the study, including
  1 14 recommendations for action, to the general assembly by
  1 15 January 15, 1996."
