The provisions of the state's general insurance laws apply generally to legal insurance offered by an insurer licensed to write other kinds of insurance; provided that legal insurance sold by such an insurer under a certificate of authority obtained under this chapter shall be regulated by the provisions of sections 523F.1 through 523F.5, 523F.7, 523F.12, 523F.14, 523F.17, and 523F.19 instead of the corresponding sections of the general insurance law.
