1 1 Section 1. Section 321.34, Code Supplement 2003, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 24. COMBAT INFANTRY SPECIAL PLATES. An
1 4 owner referred to in subsection 12 who was awarded a combat
1 5 infantry badge by the United States government may, upon
1 6 written application to the department and presentation of
1 7 satisfactory proof of the award of the combat infantry badge,
1 8 order special registration plates with a combat infantry
1 9 processed emblem. The emblem shall be designed by the
1 10 department in consultation with the adjutant general.
1 11 EXPLANATION
1 12 This bill creates a special motor vehicle registration
1 13 plate with a combat infantry processed emblem, to be designed
1 14 by the state department of transportation in consultation with
1 15 the adjutant general. A motor vehicle owner who was awarded
1 16 the combat infantry badge by the United States government is
1 17 eligible to purchase the special plate.
1 18 Under existing Code provisions, the additional fee for
1 19 issuance of the special plate is $25, which is in addition to
1 20 the regular annual registration fee. The annual validation
1 21 fee is $5 in addition to the regular annual registration fee.
1 22 The fees for personalized combat infantry plates include the
1 23 fees charged for issuance of regular personalized plates plus
1 24 the special plate fees. The additional fees from the sale of
1 25 combat infantry plates will be credited to the road use tax
1 26 fund.
