1 1 Section 1. Section 262.2, Code 2003, is amended to read as
1 2 follows:
1 3 262.2 APPOINTMENT – TERM OF OFFICE.
1 4 The members shall be appointed by the governor subject to
1 5 confirmation by the senate. The term of each member of the
1 6 board shall be for six years, unless the ninth member,
1 7 appointed in accordance with section 262.1, graduates or is no
1 8 longer enrolled at an institution of higher education under
1 9 the board's control, at which time the term of the ninth
1 10 member shall expire on December 31 of the year in which the
1 11 member graduates or is no longer enrolled in an institution of
1 12 higher education under the board's control. The terms of
1 13 three members of the board shall begin and expire in each odd-
1 14 numbered year as provided in section 69.19.
1 15 EXPLANATION
1 16 This bill provides that if the student member of the state
1 17 board of regents graduates or is no longer enrolled in a
1 18 regents university, the student member's term expires on
1 19 December 31 of the year in which the student graduates or is
1 20 no longer enrolled in a regents university. The term of a
1 21 student member is otherwise six years.
