1 1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY COMMITTEE ON RULES AND ADMINISTRATION
1 3 A Resolution honoring Senator Donald B. Redfern.
1 4 WHEREAS, Senator Donald B. Redfern is retiring from
1 5 legislative office after completing nearly three full
1 6 terms in office as a State Senator; and
1 7 WHEREAS, Senator Redfern's distinguished career as
1 8 a state legislator has included service as President
1 9 Pro Tempore in the Seventy-seventh and Seventy-eighth
1 10 General Assemblies, as Chairperson of the Education
1 11 Committee in the Seventy-seventh and Seventy-eighth
1 12 General Assemblies, as Chairperson of the Judiciary
1 13 Committee in the Eightieth General Assembly, and as
1 14 Chairperson of the Education Appropriations
1 15 Subcommittee in the Seventy-ninth General Assembly;
1 16 and
1 17 WHEREAS, Senator Redfern has served on many other
1 18 standing committees throughout his 11 years of
1 19 legislative service and has been an influential and
1 20 devoted legislator in this state; and
1 21 WHEREAS, Senator Redfern as a lawyer-legislator has
1 22 been instrumental in representing the views and
1 23 interests of the legal community before the Senate,
1 24 and in influencing legislation in the area of
1 25 education; and
1 26 WHEREAS, Senator Redfern has served honorably and
1 27 has unselfishly given of his time and efforts to
1 28 further the interests of the State of Iowa and to
1 29 provide beneficial programs for the citizens of Iowa;
1 30 NOW THEREFORE,
2 1 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate pay
2 2 tribute to Senator Donald B. Redfern for his devoted
2 3 service to the Iowa General Assembly and the citizens
2 4 of this state and wish him the very best in the years
2 5 ahead; and
2 6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of
2 7 this Resolution be prepared and presented to Senator
2 8 Redfern.
