1 2 BY DRAKE
1 3 A Resolution honoring former Senator David O. Shaff.
1 4 WHEREAS, David O. Shaff, of Clinton, Iowa, who
1 5 served with distinction in the Senate in the Fifty-
1 6 sixth through Sixty-first General Assemblies, and who
1 7 also served in the House of Representatives in the
1 8 Fifty-fifth General Assembly, will be celebrating his
1 9 80th birthday with his family on February 18, 2004;
1 10 and
1 11 WHEREAS, David O. Shaff led the pioneering efforts
1 12 that ultimately resulted in the reapportionment of the
1 13 Iowa General Assembly; and
1 14 WHEREAS, David O. Shaff retired from a long and
1 15 distinguished career as an attorney in his hometown of
1 16 Clinton; and
1 17 WHEREAS, David O. Shaff's life demonstrates the
1 18 importance of hard work and the professional
1 19 commitment to the values which all Iowans continue to
1 20 prize; and
1 21 WHEREAS, David O. Shaff's service to Iowa in both
1 22 the public and private sectors reflects great credit
1 23 on him personally, on the legal profession, on Clinton
1 24 County, on the Iowa Senate, and on the State of Iowa;
1 25 NOW THEREFORE,
1 26 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
1 27 congratulates David O. Shaff on his 80th birthday and
1 28 commends his past service to the Senate and the people
1 29 of the State of Iowa and offers its best wishes that
1 30 his continued retirement will be filled with health
2 1 and happiness.
