  1  4 RELATING TO LANDLORD DISCLOSURE REQUIREMENTS REGARDING THE
  1  5    ENVIRONMENTAL STATUS OF RENTAL PROPERTY.

  1  7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1  8 
  1  9    Section 1.  Section 562A.13, Code 2003, is amended by
  1 10 adding the following new subsection:
  1 11    NEW SUBSECTION.  6.  The landlord or a person authorized to
  1 12 enter into a rental agreement on behalf of the landlord shall
  1 13 disclose to each tenant in writing before the commencement of
  1 14 the tenancy if the property is listed in the comprehensive
  1 15 environmental response compensation and liability information
  1 16 system maintained by the federal environmental protection
  1 17 agency.
