  1  1    Amend House File 2259, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the House, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 1, by striking lines 23 through 26, and
  1  4 inserting the following:
  1  5    "Iowa law prohibits the sale or purchase of more
  1  6 than two packages containing pseudoephedrine as the
  1  7 sole active ingredient."
  1  8    #2.  Page 2, by striking lines 18 through 20 and
  1  9 inserting the following:
  1 10    "9.  This section shall not apply to the following:
  1 11    a.  Any package of a product containing
  1 12 pseudoephedrine as the product's sole active
  1 13 ingredient which is in liquid form.
  1 14    b.  Any package of a product containing
  1 15 pseudoephedrine as the product's sole active
  1 16 ingredient which is primarily intended for
  1 17 administration to children under twelve years of age
  1 18 according to the label, regardless of whether the
  1 19 product is in liquid or solid form.
  1 20    c.  Any package of a product containing
  1 21 pseudoephedrine as the product's sole active
  1 22 ingredient that the board of pharmacy examiners, with
  1 23 the concurrence of the department of public safety,
  1 24 upon application of a manufacturer, exempts from this
  1 25 section because the product is formulated to
  1 26 effectively prevent conversion of the active
  1 27 ingredient into methamphetamine or its salts or
  1 28 precursors.  The board of pharmacy examiners, with the
  1 29 concurrence of the department of public safety, shall
  1 30 adopt rules pursuant to chapter 17A to administer this
  1 31 paragraph."
