  1  1    Amend Senate File 2230 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 1, by inserting after line 14 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "5A.  "Response action" means any action taken to
  1  5 reduce, minimize, eliminate, clean up, control,
  1  6 assess, or monitor a release of hazardous substances,
  1  7 hazardous waste, or regulated substances to protect
  1  8 the public health, safety, or the environment."
  1  9    #2.  Page 2, by inserting after line 32 the
  1 10 following:
  1 11    "Sec.    .  NEW SECTION.  455B.754  LEGAL
  1 12 RESPONSIBILITY.
  1 13    This division shall not be interpreted to affect
  1 14 the legal responsibility to the state to conduct
  1 15 response actions under any applicable state law.
  1 16    Sec.    .  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed
  1 17 of immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment."
  1 18    #3.  Title page, line 2, by inserting after the
  1 19 word "property" the following:  "and providing an
  1 20 effective date".
