1 8 "STATE COMMISSIONER OF ELECTIONS
1 9 Sec. . There is appropriated from the rebuild
1 10 Iowa infrastructure fund to the state commissioner of
1 11 elections for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2003,
1 12 and ending June 30, 2004, the following amounts, or so
1 13 much thereof as is necessary, to be used for the
1 14 purposes designated:
1 15 1. For the purchase and installation of voting
1 16 machines, notwithstanding section 8.57, subsection 5,
1 17 paragraph "c":
1 18 .................................................. $ 1,263,000
1 19 2. To provide for the maintenance of effort
1 20 requirements of the federal Help America Vote Act of
1 21 2002, Pub. L. No. 107-252, notwithstanding section
1 22 8.57, subsection 5, paragraph "c":
1 23 .................................................. $ 78,916
1 24 The state commissioner of elections shall report to
1 25 the general assembly regarding the expenditure of the
1 26 moneys appropriated in this section by January 2,
1 27 2004, and July 1, 2004.""
