1 1 Amend Senate File 458 as follows:
1 2 #1. Page 11, by inserting after line 26 the
1 3 following:
1 4 "Sec. . STATE COURTS – JUSTICES, JUDGES, AND
1 5 MAGISTRATES.
1 6 1. There is appropriated from the general fund of
1 7 the state to the judicial branch for the fiscal year
1 8 beginning July 1, 2003, and ending June 30, 2004, the
1 9 following amount, or so much thereof as is necessary,
1 10 to be used for the purposes designated:
1 11 For funding, along with the allocation made for the
1 12 same purpose in this division of this Act, of pay
1 13 adjustments, expense reimbursements, and related
1 14 benefits for judicial branch employees:
1 15 .................................................. $ 1,500,000
1 16 2. The salary rates specified in subsection 3 are
1 17 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2003, effective
1 18 for the pay period beginning June 20, 2003, and for
1 19 subsequent fiscal years until otherwise provided by
1 20 the general assembly. The salaries provided for in
1 21 this section shall be paid from the funds appropriated
1 22 to the judicial branch in this section and funds
1 23 allocated to the judicial branch from the salary
1 24 adjustment fund pursuant to this division of this Act,
1 25 or if the appropriation and allocation are not
1 26 sufficient, from the funds appropriated to the
1 27 judicial branch pursuant to any Act of the general
1 28 assembly.
1 29 3. The following annual salary rates shall be paid
1 30 to the persons holding the judicial positions
1 31 indicated during the fiscal year beginning July 1,
1 32 2003, effective with the pay period beginning June 20,
1 33 2003, and for subsequent pay periods.
1 34 a. Chief justice of the supreme court:
1 35 .................................................. $ 127,040
1 36 b. Each justice of the supreme court:
1 37 .................................................. $ 122,500
1 38 c. Chief judge of the court of appeals:
1 39 .................................................. $ 122,380
1 40 d. Each associate judge of the court of appeals:
1 41 .................................................. $ 117,850
1 42 e. Each chief judge of a judicial district:
1 43 .................................................. $ 116,760
1 44 f. Each district judge except the chief judge of a
1 45 judicial district:
1 46 .................................................. $ 112,010
1 47 g. Each district associate judge:
1 48 .................................................. $ 97,610
1 49 h. Each associate juvenile judge:
1 50 .................................................. $ 97,610
2 1 i. Each associate probate judge:
2 2 .................................................. $ 97,610
2 3 j. Each judicial magistrate:
2 4 .................................................. $ 29,100
2 5 k. Each senior judge:
2 6 .................................................. $ 6,500
2 7 4. Persons receiving the salary rates established
2 8 under this section shall not receive any additional
2 9 salary adjustments provided by this Act."
