1 1 Section 1. Section 18.12, Code 2003, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 18A. Employ such additional personnel in
1 4 excess of the number of full-time equivalent positions
1 5 authorized by the general assembly if such additional
1 6 personnel are reasonable and necessary to perform such duties
1 7 as authorized by this chapter and if the cost of such
1 8 additional personnel is reimbursed to the department of
1 9 general services by one or more entities of the executive,
1 10 judicial, or legislative branch of government. The director
1 11 shall notify in writing the department of management, the
1 12 legislative fiscal committee, and the legislative fiscal
1 13 bureau of any additional personnel employed pursuant to this
1 14 subsection.
1 15 EXPLANATION
1 16 This bill provides the director of the department of
1 17 general services the authority to employ additional personnel
1 18 in excess of the number of full-time equivalent positions
1 19 authorized by the general assembly if such additional
1 20 personnel are necessary to perform the department's duties and
1 21 the cost is reimbursable by an entity of state government.
1 22 The bill requires the director to notify the department of
1 23 management, the legislative fiscal committee, and the
1 24 legislative fiscal bureau about any additional personnel
1 25 employed pursuant to this bill.
