1 1 Section 1. Section 716.6B, subsection 1, paragraph a, Code
1 2 2003, is amended to read as follows:
1 3 a. An aggravated misdemeanor if computer data is accessed
1 4 that contains a confidential record, as defined in section
1 5 22.7, operational or support data of a public utility, as
1 6 defined in section 476.1, operational or support data of a
1 7 rural water district incorporated pursuant to chapter 357A or
1 8 504A, operational or support data of a public airport, or a
1 9 trade secret, as defined in section 550.2.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill designates the offense of unauthorized access to
1 12 the computerized operational or support data of rural water
1 13 districts as an aggravated misdemeanor. An aggravated
1 14 misdemeanor is punishable by confinement for no more than two
1 15 years and a fine of at least $500 but not more than $5,000.
