1 2 BY WHITEAD
1 3 A Resolution honoring the Sioux City West High School Dance
1 4 Squad for its outstanding performance at the Marching
1 5 Auxiliaries National Dance/Drill Team Competition.
1 6 WHEREAS, the Sioux City West High School Dance
1 7 Squad recently competed at the Marching Auxiliaries
1 8 National Dance/Drill Team Competition in San Antonio,
1 9 Texas; and
1 10 WHEREAS, more than one hundred forty-six dance
1 11 teams from Iowa, South Dakota, California, Washington,
1 12 Utah, Texas, Kentucky, and Hawaii participated in the
1 13 competition; and
1 14 WHEREAS, the squad won six national championship
1 15 titles, three runner-up titles, one third-place title,
1 16 and one fourth-place title, placing in 11 of the 12
1 17 routines it entered; and
1 18 WHEREAS, the Dance Squad's Pink and Green Squads
1 19 received Winner Circle awards for earning the top
1 20 scores from all of the judges in three of the routines
1 21 they entered; NOW THEREFORE,
1 22 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 23 That the House of Representatives congratulates the
1 24 Sioux City West High School Dance Squad for these
1 25 significant achievements; and
1 26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of
1 27 Representatives recognizes the contributions of
1 28 directors Julie DeGroot, Amy DeGroot-Hammer, Michaelle
1 29 Sullivan, Jody Kennedy, Yasmin Williams, and Penni
1 30 Hale in facilitating the squad's success.
