1 3 A Resolution recognizing the Order of DeMolay and
1 4 National DeMolay Month.
1 5 WHEREAS, DeMolay is a service and leadership
1 6 organization for young men between the ages of 12 and
1 7 21; and
1 8 WHEREAS, the Order of DeMolay was founded in 1919
1 9 by Frank S. Land and nine young men, and since then
1 10 has spread to all 50 states and several other nations;
1 11 and
1 12 WHEREAS, the Order of DeMolay is dedicated to seven
1 13 cardinal virtues: love of parents, reverence for all
1 14 things sacred, courtesy, comradeship, fidelity,
1 15 cleanliness, and patriotism; and
1 16 WHEREAS, DeMolay members are also dedicated to the
1 17 preservation of civil, religious, political, and
1 18 intellectual liberties; and
1 19 WHEREAS, the Order of DeMolay has shaped the lives
1 20 of millions of young men over the past 80 years,
1 21 including Walt Disney, John Steinbeck, John Wayne,
1 22 Walter Cronkite, and President William J. Clinton; NOW
1 23 THEREFORE,
1 24 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 25 That the House of Representatives recognizes on this
1 26 15th day of March 2004, during National DeMolay Month,
1 27 the Order of DeMolay for its combination of a serious
1 28 mission for young men with a fun approach that builds
1 29 lifelong bonds of friendship among members in more
1 30 than 1,000 chapters worldwide.
