1 3 A Resolution to honor Representative Jodi S. Tymeson
1 4 for her promotion to Brigadier General in the Iowa
1 5 National Guard.
1 6 WHEREAS, Representative Jodi S. Tymeson was born
1 7 and raised in Boone County, Iowa, and received a
1 8 Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of
1 9 Northern Iowa and a Master's of Public Administration
1 10 degree from Drake University; and
1 11 WHEREAS, Representative Tymeson has faithfully
1 12 served the citizens of Iowa as a State Representative
1 13 and continues to serve Iowans as chair of the House
1 14 Education Committee and a member of the committees on
1 15 Human Resources and Ways and Means, and of the Joint
1 16 Appropriations Subcommittee on Education; and
1 17 WHEREAS, Representative Tymeson has received
1 18 numerous awards and decorations for her exceptional
1 19 leadership and dedicated service in the Iowa National
1 20 Guard since enlisting in 1974; and
1 21 WHEREAS, on December 6, 2003, Representative
1 22 Tymeson was officially promoted to the position of
1 23 Brigadier General in the Iowa National Guard, becoming
1 24 the first woman in the Iowa National Guard to hold the
1 25 position of Brigadier General; and
1 26 WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the
1 27 achievements of Representative Tymeson be recognized
1 28 and honored; NOW THEREFORE,
1 29 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 30 That the House of Representatives recognizes and
2 1 honors Representative Tymeson for her dedication to
2 2 the citizens of the State of Iowa and her promotion to
2 3 Brigadier General in the Iowa National Guard.
