1 2 BY PAULSEN
1 3 A Resolution honoring the town of Troy Mills on
1 4 its sesquicentennial year.
1 5 WHEREAS, the town of Troy Mills, founded in 1853,
1 6 is celebrating its 150th anniversary; and
1 7 WHEREAS, Troy Mills is a small rural community rich
1 8 in history and friendly people; and
1 9 WHEREAS, the economic development in Troy Mills is
1 10 based in such dynamic businesses as Brislawn Logging,
1 11 Carson Grain, Gary's Auto, and the Troy Store; and
1 12 WHEREAS, Troy Mills will celebrate its 150th
1 13 anniversary during a three-day festival, July 4-6,
1 14 2003, featuring a parade, car show, rodeo, frog-
1 15 jumping contest, tractor pull, talent show, and
1 16 fireworks; NOW THEREFORE,
1 17 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 18 That the House of Representatives recognizes and
1 19 extends its congratulations to the town of Troy Mills
1 20 on its sesquicentennial anniversary year and for its
1 21 150 years of service to its citizens and to the State
1 22 of Iowa; and
1 23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of
1 24 this Resolution be prepared and presented to Jack
1 25 Andrews and Carol Brislawn, citizens of the town of
1 26 Troy Mills.
