1 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY HANSEN
1 3 A Resolution urging the federal government to
1 4 implement equal tax treatment for individual and
1 5 group health insurance coverage.
1 6 WHEREAS, the number of citizens in the United
1 7 States without health insurance coverage continues to
1 8 rise; and
1 9 WHEREAS, most citizens without health insurance are
1 10 not eligible for health insurance coverage from an
1 11 employer; and
1 12 WHEREAS, citizens who cannot obtain health
1 13 insurance coverage from an employer do not have a tax
1 14 incentive to purchase health insurance coverage while
1 15 citizens who have employer-provided health insurance
1 16 coverage and their employers both have tax incentives
1 17 to purchase and provide coverage; NOW THEREFORE,
1 18 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 19 That the federal government is urged to implement
1 20 equal tax treatment for individual and group health
1 21 insurance coverage; and
1 22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Chief Clerk of the
1 23 House of Representatives shall send an official copy
1 24 of this Resolution to the President of the United
1 25 States; the Majority and Minority Leaders of the
1 26 United States Senate; the Speaker, Majority Leader,
1 27 and Minority Leader of the United States House of
1 28 Representatives; and the members of Iowa's
1 29 congressional delegation.
