1 4 PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE
1 5 OF IOWA RELATING TO THE QUALIFICATION OF ELECTORS.

1 7 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 9 Section 1. The following amendment to the Constitution of
1 10 the State of Iowa is proposed:
1 11 Section 5 of Article II of the Constitution of the State of
1 12 Iowa is repealed and the following adopted in lieu thereof:
1 13 DISQUALIFIED PERSONS. SEC. 5. A person adjudged mentally
1 14 incompetent to vote or a person convicted of any infamous
1 15 crime shall not be entitled to the privilege of an elector.
1 16 Sec. 2. The foregoing amendment to the Constitution of the
1 17 State of Iowa is referred to the General Assembly to be chosen
1 18 at the next general election for members of the General
1 19 Assembly, and the Secretary of State is directed to cause the
1 20 same to be published for three consecutive months previous to
1 21 the date of that election as provided by law.
