1 1 Section 1. Section 96.5, subsection 2, Code 2003, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
1 3 NEW PARAGRAPH. aa. Misconduct is deemed to have occurred
1 4 if an individual is unemployed as a result of an act or
1 5 omission of the individual determined to constitute child
1 6 abuse as defined in section 232.68, or dependent adult abuse
1 7 as defined in section 235B.2.
1 8 EXPLANATION
1 9 This bill provides that persons who lose employment due to
1 10 an act of child abuse or dependent adult abuse are deemed to
1 11 have committed misconduct and are disqualified from receiving
1 12 unemployment benefits.
