  1  4 RELATING TO THE DONATION OF BLOOD BY PERSONS SIXTEEN YEARS
  1  5    OF AGE.

  1  7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1  8 
  1  9    Section 1.  Section 599.6, Code 2003, is amended to read as
  1 10 follows:
  1 11    599.6  DONATION OF BLOOD BY MINORS.
  1 12    1.  A person who is seventeen years of age or older may
  1 13 consent to donate blood in a voluntary and noncompensatory
  1 14 blood program without the permission of a parent or guardian.
  1 15 The consent is not subject to later disaffirmance because of
  1 16 minority.
  1 17    2.  A person who is sixteen years of age may donate blood
  1 18 in a voluntary and noncompensatory blood program if the person
  1 19 obtains written permission from the person's parent or
  1 20 guardian.
