1 4 DESIGNATING ADVANCED REGISTERED NURSE PRACTITIONERS AS
1 5 PROVIDERS OF HEALTH CARE SERVICES PURSUANT TO MANAGED CARE
1 6 OR PREPAID SERVICES CONTRACTS UNDER THE MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
1 7 PROGRAM.

1 9 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 11 Section 1. Section 249A.4, subsection 7, Code 2003, is
1 12 amended by adding the following new unnumbered paragraph:
1 13 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. Advanced registered nurse
1 14 practitioners licensed pursuant to chapter 152 shall be
1 15 regarded as approved providers of health care services,
1 16 including primary care, for purposes of managed care or
1 17 prepaid services contracts under the medical assistance
1 18 program. This paragraph shall not be construed to expand the
1 19 scope of practice of an advanced registered nurse practitioner
1 20 pursuant to chapter 152.
