1 6 SAFE CHEMICALS IN SCHOOLS PROGRAM TASK FORCE
1 7 Sec. . SAFE CHEMICALS IN SCHOOLS PROGRAM TASK
1 8 FORCE.
1 9 1. The department of education is directed to
1 10 establish a safe chemicals in schools program task
1 11 force. The task force is directed to develop a
1 12 program to provide for training in safe chemical
1 13 management for school district personnel for on-site
1 14 identification and management of radioactive materials
1 15 and potential explosives in school districts.
1 16 2. The task force shall consist of the director of
1 17 public health or the director's designee, the director
1 18 of the department of natural resources or the
1 19 director's designee, the state fire marshal or the
1 20 state fire marshal's designee, and the director of the
1 21 department of education or the director's designee.
1 22 The task force shall also include four members of the
1 23 general assembly with not more than one member from
1 24 each chamber being from the same political party. The
1 25 two senators shall be designated by the president of
1 26 the senate after consultation with the majority and
1 27 minority leaders of the senate. The two
1 28 representatives shall be designated by the speaker of
1 29 the house of representatives after consultation with
1 30 the majority and minority leaders of the house of
1 31 representatives. Legislative members shall serve in
1 32 an ex officio, nonvoting capacity. The task force
1 33 shall be responsible for designating an agency or
1 34 management firm charged with the responsibility of
1 35 administering the program.
1 36 3. The task force shall submit a report on the
1 37 status of the development of the program to the
1 38 general assembly by January 1, 2004. The task force
1 39 should have completed its work by January 1, 2005, at
1 40 which time a final report will be submitted to the
1 41 general assembly."
1 42 #2. Title page, line 4, by inserting after the
1 43 word "structure" the following: "and providing for a
1 44 task force".
