1 1 Amend Senate File 440, as passed by the Senate, as
1 2 follows:
1 3 #1. By striking everything after the enacting
1 4 clause and inserting the following:
1 5 "Section 1. NONPUBLIC SCHOOL TEXTBOOK AND
1 6 TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE. There is appropriated from
1 7 the general fund of the state to the department of
1 8 education for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2003,
1 9 and ending June 30, 2004, the following amounts, or so
1 10 much thereof as may be necessary, to be used for the
1 11 purposes designated:
1 12 1. NONPUBLIC SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS
1 13 To provide funds for costs of providing textbooks
1 14 to each resident pupil who attends a nonpublic school
1 15 as authorized by Code section 301.1:
1 16 .................................................. $ 590,458
1 17 2. NONPUBLIC SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION COSTS
1 18 To provide funds for payment of nonpublic school
1 19 transportation claims pursuant to section 285.2, or
1 20 for reimbursement of nonpublic school transportation
1 21 expenses pursuant to section 285.3:
1 22 .................................................. $ 7,955,541"
1 23 #2. Title page, by striking lines 1 and 2 and
1 24 inserting the following: "An Act making an
1 25 appropriation for nonpublic school textbook and
1 26 transportation costs."
