1 1 Section 1. PRACTITIONERS' VERBAL ORDERS IN HOSPITALS. The
1 2 department of inspections and appeals shall adopt rules for
1 3 hospital services relating to practitioners' verbal orders
1 4 that are consistent with and no more restrictive than federal
1 5 law and regulation. The rules shall not specify a time period
1 6 within which the practitioner issuing the verbal order must
1 7 provide a signature, unless federal law and regulation
1 8 otherwise require.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This bill directs the department of inspections and appeals
1 11 to adopt rules for hospital services relating to verbal orders
1 12 that are consistent with and no more restrictive than federal
1 13 law and regulation. The rules are not to specify a time
1 14 period within which the practitioner issuing the order must
1 15 sign a verbal order, unless the federal rules and regulations
1 16 otherwise require.
