1 1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY COMMITTEE ON RULES AND ADMINISTRATION
1 3 A Resolution honoring Senator Andrew J. McKean.
1 4 WHEREAS, Senator Andrew J. "Andy" McKean is
1 5 retiring from legislative office after completing 10
1 6 years in office as a State Senator and seven terms as
1 7 a member of the House of Representatives; and
1 8 WHEREAS, Senator McKean's distinguished career as a
1 9 state legislator has included service as President Pro
1 10 Tempore during the Seventy-ninth General Assembly; and
1 11 WHEREAS, Senator McKean's legislative career has
1 12 also included service as Chairperson of the Judiciary
1 13 Committee and as Vice Chairperson of the Ethics
1 14 Committee and of the Justice Systems Appropriations
1 15 Subcommittee; and
1 16 WHEREAS, Senator McKean has served on many other
1 17 standing committees throughout his 24 years of
1 18 legislative service and has been an influential and
1 19 devoted legislator in this state; and
1 20 WHEREAS, Senator McKean has been instrumental in
1 21 the passage of legislation pertinent to Iowa relating
1 22 to criminal and civil law, the correctional system,
1 23 and natural resources; and
1 24 WHEREAS, Senator McKean has served honorably and
1 25 has unselfishly given of his time and efforts to
1 26 further the interests of the State of Iowa and to
1 27 provide beneficial programs for the citizens of Iowa;
1 28 NOW THEREFORE,
1 29 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate pay
1 30 tribute to Senator Andrew J. "Andy" McKean for his
2 1 devoted service to the Iowa General Assembly and the
2 2 citizens of this state and wish him the very best in
2 3 the years ahead; and
2 4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, an official copy of
2 5 this Resolution be prepared and presented to Senator
2 6 McKean.
