1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 12.83A SCHOOL INFRASTRUCTURE
1 2 PILOT PROJECTS – FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.
1 3 During the term of the school infrastructure program
1 4 established in section 292.2, up to two hundred thousand
1 5 dollars of the moneys deposited each fiscal year in the school
1 6 infrastructure fund shall be allocated each fiscal year to the
1 7 department of education to provide financial assistance for
1 8 school infrastructure pilot projects approved by the
1 9 department under this section. A school district may apply to
1 10 the department of education for financial assistance for a
1 11 pilot project under this section. The application shall
1 12 describe the pilot project including, but not limited to, the
1 13 infrastructure needs for the project. A pilot project shall
1 14 incorporate nontraditional or unconventional approaches to the
1 15 provision of instruction in nontraditional or unconventional
1 16 educational settings. The educational setting of a pilot
1 17 project need not be on property owned by the school district
1 18 applying for the financial assistance. The department of
1 19 education shall adopt rules pursuant to chapter 17A relating
1 20 to local match issues.
