1 1 Section 1. ENROLLMENT ADJUSTMENT. For the school budget
1 2 year beginning July 1, 2001, a school district which
1 3 participated in an alternative high school program offered by
1 4 a community college for the school budget year beginning July
1 5 1, 1999, which undercounted its weighted enrollment
1 6 attributable to participation in the alternative high school
1 7 program by fifty-five or more students when determining
1 8 enrollment pursuant to section 257.6 on September 18, 1998,
1 9 shall be authorized to adjust the enrollment count to reflect
1 10 the revised weighted enrollment count in a report which shall
1 11 be submitted to the department of education within thirty days
1 12 after the enactment of this Act. The department shall forward
1 13 the report to the department of management, which shall adjust
1 14 the budget enrollment for the school district accordingly.
1 15 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of
1 16 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
1 17 EXPLANATION
1 18 This bill provides that for the school budget year
1 19 beginning July 1, 2001, a school district which participated
1 20 in an alternative high school program offered by a community
1 21 college for the school budget year beginning July 1, 1999,
1 22 which undercounted its weighted enrollment attributable to
1 23 participation in the alternative high school program by 55 or
1 24 more students when determining enrollment pursuant to Code
1 25 section 257.6 on September 18, 1998, shall be authorized to
1 26 adjust the enrollment count to reflect the revised weighted
1 27 enrollment count in a report which shall be submitted to the
1 28 department of education within 30 days after the bill's
1 29 enactment. The bill provides that the department shall
1 30 forward the report to the department of management, which
1 31 shall adjust the budget enrollment for the school district
1 32 accordingly.
1 33 The bill takes effect upon enactment.
