1 1 Section 1. Section 80.8, Code 2001, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new unnumbered paragraph:
1 3 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. Peace officer members of the
1 4 department excluded from the provisions of chapter 20 who are
1 5 injured in the line of duty shall receive paid time off in the
1 6 same manner as provided to peace officer members of the
1 7 department covered by a collective bargaining agreement
1 8 entered into between the state and the employee organization
1 9 representing such covered peace officer members under chapter
1 10 20.
1 11 EXPLANATION
1 12 This bill provides that peace officer members of the
1 13 department of public safety who are excluded from the
1 14 provisions of the state employee collective bargaining law
1 15 shall receive paid time off in the same manner as peace
1 16 officer members who are covered by a collective bargaining
1 17 agreement when they are injured in the line of duty.
