PAG LIN 1 1 Amend House File 2404, as passed by the House, as 1 2 follows: 1 3 #1. By striking everything after the enacting 1 4 clause and inserting the following: 1 5 "Section 1. Section 257.31, subsection 17, 1 6 paragraph a, Code 2001, is amended to read as follows: 1 7 a. If a district's average transportation costs 1 8 per pupil exceed the state average transportation 1 9 costs per pupil determined under paragraph "c" by one 1 10 hundredfiftypercent, the committee may grant 1 11 transportation assistance aid to the district. Such 1 12 aid shall be miscellaneous income and shall not be 1 13 included in district cost. 1 14 Sec. 2. Section 257.31, subsection 17, Code 2001, 1 15 is amended by adding the following new paragraph: 1 16 NEW PARAGRAPH. e. For the fiscal year beginning 1 17 July 1, 2003, and succeeding fiscal years, there is 1 18 appropriated from the general fund of the state to the 1 19 committee, in addition to any other funding which may 1 20 be appropriated, the sum of one million two hundred 1 21 thousand dollars for transportation assistance aid to 1 22 school districts as provided in this subsection. 1 23 Notwithstanding section 8.33, moneys appropriated in 1 24 this paragraph that remain unencumbered and 1 25 unobligated shall not revert but shall remain 1 26 available for the purposes designated for the next 1 27 fiscal year. 1 28 Sec. 3. APPLICABILITY DATE. This Act is 1 29 applicable for the school budget year beginning July 1 30 1, 2003, and succeeding budget years." 1 31 #2.
