1 1 Section 1. Section 257.11, subsection 4, Code Supplement
1 2 2001, is amended by adding the following new paragraph:
1 3 NEW PARAGRAPH. d. School districts receiving funding
1 4 pursuant to this subsection shall submit a report to the
1 5 department of education by October 1 annually accounting for
1 6 how the funds received were allocated and distributed to
1 7 programs serving at-risk pupils and alternative school pupils.
1 8 The report shall contain specific dollar allocation figures,
1 9 identify at-risk and alternative school pupil program goals
1 10 and accomplishments, and establish a plan for allocation of
1 11 funds anticipated to be received the following school year.
1 12 The department shall distribute information to all school
1 13 districts in the state specifying the funding which is
1 14 available for at-risk programs and alternative schools, how it
1 15 is determined, and how it is to be utilized.
1 16 EXPLANATION
1 17 This bill provides for increased accountability by school
1 18 districts regarding utilization of funding for at-risk
1 19 programs and alternative schools.
1 20 The bill provides that school districts receiving
1 21 supplementary weighting for at-risk programs and alternative
1 22 school pupils shall submit a report to the department of
1 23 education by October 1 annually containing specific dollar
1 24 allocation figures, identification of at-risk and alternative
1 25 school pupil program goals and accomplishments, and
1 26 establishing a plan for allocation of funds to be received the
1 27 following school year.
1 28 The bill further provides that the department shall
1 29 distribute information to all school districts in the state
1 30 specifying the funding which is available for at-risk programs
1 31 and alternative schools, how it is determined, and how it is
1 32 to be utilized.
