1 2 BY WARNSTADT
1 3 A Resolution calling on the Commissioner of
1 4 Insurance to undertake a review of insurance rates
1 5 in Iowa.
1 6 WHEREAS, the ramifications of the events of
1 7 September 11, 2001, have significantly impacted
1 8 insurance companies across Iowa and the country; and
1 9 WHEREAS, there is great concern among individuals
1 10 and businesses regarding the sharply increased rates
1 11 for a variety of insurance policies; and
1 12 WHEREAS, the potential impact of these increased
1 13 rates on the ability of businesses to start, expand,
1 14 or continue could have lasting effects on the state's
1 15 and the nation's economy; and
1 16 WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Insurance of the State
1 17 of Iowa is charged with monitoring insurance companies
1 18 and maintaining public confidence in the insurance
1 19 industry; NOW THEREFORE,
1 20 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 21 That the House of Representatives calls on the
1 22 Commissioner of Insurance to carefully review
1 23 insurance rates in the State of Iowa and ensure that
1 24 recent rate increases are appropriate.
