1 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY SUKUP, GARMAN, ROBERTS, SMITH, FOEGE, DIX,
1 3 and SHOULTZ
1 4 A Resolution recognizing and congratulating Quakerdale
1 5 on 150 years of service.
1 6 WHEREAS, Quakerdale, a nonprofit, social service
1 7 agency, founded by Josiah White in 1851, has
1 8 strengthened the lives of youth and families in Iowa
1 9 for the past 150 years; and
1 10 WHEREAS, Quakerdale is committed to the welfare and
1 11 quality of life for youth and families for generations
1 12 to come; and
1 13 WHEREAS, Quakerdale is a chartered member of the
1 14 Coalition for Family and Children's Services in Iowa,
1 15 which represents 36 children's and family service
1 16 agencies, and is an advocate for the continuous
1 17 improvement of the quality of life for children and
1 18 families; and
1 19 WHEREAS, Quakerdale provides an array of services
1 20 designed to assist youth, families, and individuals
1 21 who are experiencing crisis or difficulty in their
1 22 lives, including adoption services, assessment
1 23 services, community-based day treatment, crisis
1 24 respite care, counseling services, family foster care,
1 25 independent living assistance, residential treatment,
1 26 school-based programs, and shelter care; and
1 27 WHEREAS, Quakerdale currently has locations in
1 28 Manning, Marshalltown, New Providence, and Waterloo;
1 29 and
1 30 WHEREAS, the year 2001 marks Quakerdale's 150th
2 1 anniversary celebration; NOW THEREFORE,
2 2 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
2 3 That the House of Representatives recognizes
2 4 Quakerdale for its long-term, effective leadership,
2 5 and compassionate services provided to children and
2 6 families in Iowa.
2 7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of
2 8 Representatives congratulates Quakerdale on the 150th
2 9 anniversary of its founding, and calls upon the
2 10 citizens of Iowa to affirm the work and dedication of
2 11 Quakerdale.
